Ida Jean Orlando (1926-2007) was a leading psychiatric nurse, theorist, consultant, and researcher. She is internationally recognized for developing the Deliberative Nursing Process Theory.

    Her parents Nicholas and Antoinette Orlando, immigrants from humble origins who had another 5 children. A few years later, the family moved to Kings County, New York, where her father became a mechanic and her mother became a homemak
