Sidney Christopher AlfordOBE (11 January 1935 – 27 January 2021[1]) was an inventor, explosives engineer and a doctor of chemistry.
Dr Alford was the Chairman of Alford Technologies Limited,[2] a world-leading provider of explosive engineering and explosive charge technology, that he founded in 1985. In 2015 he was awarded the OBE in Her Majesty the Queen's Birthday Honours for services to explosive ordnance disposal.[3]
Alford is considered the pioneer in water projecting disruptors driven by high explosive.
These are used in bomb disposal.
