Biography of Joe Henderson
Joe Henderson was an American jazz saxophonist.
He was born in Lima, Ohio, USA, in a large family with five sisters and nine brothers.

He studied music at the Kentucky State College and later at Wayne University in Detroit, where he took his first steps as a musician.
At the age of 18, Henderson was already actively involved in the Detroit jazz scene of the mid-1950s, playing jam sessions with famous musicians from New York.
After a two-year break for military service from 1960 to 1962, he moved to New York, where he received support and guidance from trumpeter Kenny Dorham.
Although Henderson's early recordings were strongly influenced by hard bop, his playing extended beyond the confines of the bebop tradition, incorporating elements of rhythm and blues, Latin, and avant-garde styles.
He joined Horace Silver's group and later led his own group with Dorh
